I apologize for bumping the this thread, but I've been informed that 600 comments and 600 forum posts is enough to make me a Conversationalist. I haven't seem to have the slightest on why it is bugging out for me, but I know that it should be my newest title.

Did the factor adding get removed? Is it only not working for me? I do not know. I just know that it should be enough, the factors. I don't care if that I am not receiving the title, but I am concerned about why it is not arriving.

No worries on the bumping. That's what it's here for.

As for the Conversationalist title:

- Conversationalist: 1000 Forum Posts or Comments.

It must be one or the other. Comments are not added to Forum Posts to get 1,000

Abby of Many Fandoms wrote:

Wait, I have around 10 comments and I'm a gold member. Can someone tell me what's up?

Hm. I think Gold Member may have other ways of getting that tile than just comments/forum posts. Alternatively, the requirements may have changed since the thread was first started by RandomMan.

I don't know for sure myself though.

In all likelihood, Gold Member can probably be obtained though Media Contributions now.

I am wondering if new titles will be added this year. Many members are reaching 10x the number of posts and images needed for Conversationalist/Archivist.

Related to this topic, I always wonder if there is any intention of updating this list on a regular basis. It just seems so useful, not just for n00bs, but for oldfags like me that don't keep up with the forums as often as we should.

While this seems like a nice idea, exactly what titles would one use, then?

Commentator, Conversationalist, TL;DR?
Collector, Archivist, Hoarder?

For that matter, I see that there are a lot more custom titles lately and I'd love to know if anyone has a list of these.

Before Chris Menning left after the last incident, he gave himself every single title available at the time. I think a mod might have a screenshot of that. But, onto newer titles.

deadparrot222 – Plush Master
madcat – Homestuck Authority
professorcheese – Shipping Ph.D
Dr. Gregory Horse – Art Historian
The Frosty Lich – Marshmallow
Taryn – Peasant
1983parrothead – Japanese Specialist
opspe – Historical Meme Historian
Drpepperfan – Hamsteak #1
The rest of the guys over here.

That's all I can think of right now. Hopefully someone can post the screenshot I was talking about, so we won't have to look around for all the titles.

Okay, apparently the list was more out-of-date than I realized. I did some research, and came up with this:

This may be neither complete nor accurate. Some people are listed as what they were when they were first appointed, others as what they were later upgraded to. I couldn't track down the thread in which Gen. 5 was announced, and I'm not sure if my placement of mona_jpn is right in any sense. Anyone who can supply further input or suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT: Updated with current info and admins.

I hadn't thought of adding new titles, ill try to spare some time this weekend and come up with something and bring it up for discussion Monday.

Ann Hiro wrote:

Conversationalist evolved into X ( "The Loquacious " sounds good IMO)

Archivist evolved into X ("Chronicler")

The Title should be changed at 5000, or 5500 contributions of what was needed.

"Loquacious" seems a bit overdone, but "Chronicler" seems alright. I think that the media contributions needed for the latter should still be half of the contributions needed for the former. After all, it's a lot easier to just post than to upload images or videos and source and tag them.

Check your e-mail, I got:

Way to go on uploading your 100th image to Know Your Meme! You can now add or edit the metadata of any image (titles, tags and credit notes) on the site as a Know Your Meme Scrapbooker. To access the edit mode, go to any image page and click the "edit image" button displayed at the top.
Please use this feature responsibly and constructively, as your privilege may be revoked in case of any abuse. Way to go and keep up the great work!

On a side note, could I please have that title added to my Conversationalist title?

What Quantum Meme said, it allows you to access the new public tagging feature, allowing you to edit and tag/source every image on the site. Unlike Collector, which is gained at just 100 media uploads, Scrapbooker is given at 100 images.

I'll update the OP post.

Quantum Meme wrote:

Higher titles still take priority. It's an automated system. To make that a double title you basically need to have it edited into a custom title reading both.

It's just that, RandomMan, isn't Scrapbooker kind of like some sort of image moderator in a way? I would have thought that the title would show if it's something that declares you are able to edit the information about any image and even remove any image from the site.

Okay, I like the fact that this has been added so far (I'm afraid that this might be abused in the future, but that goes with any few feature). There are a bunch of images that lack any tags that I wanted to tag for a long time. My question is, how do I do it? I don't see any edit image button on any images other than my own right now.

It's like a Semi-Image mod so to say. You can't hide images, view hidden images, or move images between entries. Not to forget you can't access videos, something Media Mods can.

It's a public feature, not a privelege. You can't really contact a Scrapbooker if you need spam or gore in the galleries removed, that requires a mod. Making it super obvious would acquire nothing.

Should be on the top of the page.

I was just wondering about the whole point of it. Personally, I find it to be quite useful for the site as this means those who upload a lot of images also have the power to assist with sources and things on other people's pictures.

But yeah, it's just that initially I thought 'hang on, is this some kind of pseudo-image mod?' but of course, a Scrapbooker is not an officially designated moderator, just someone with image editing abilities. So I understand now, thanks.

Also it's a little co-incidental that I'm learning photography in College and then I get this title here for images hmm…

Jacob wrote:

If you're certain you're a Scrapbooker, the 'Edit Image' button should be right at the top of the page on a grey banner on any image I think.

Ah, I see it at the top now. I think it just blended in with my chrome browser so I missed it earlier. Off to tag stuff.

So far I do like it, and I hope it makes things easier to find once stuff is tagged. However, I also noticed that the Remove image button is present when editing the image. I personally think this should be reserved to mods and the person uploading the image, as this can be abused fairly easily… I don't plan on ever using it for other peoples images, but I can't say the same about everyone.

That's a display bug. You can't actually remove other people's images by clicking it though.

Well that's cleared up a lot. I thought there was a massive flaw in this Scrapbooker thing for a second there.

Or you're just saying that so we don't try. seriously though

James wrote:

Ah, good to know then, thanks. Hopefully people will use this feature correctly and it makes finding things easier.

I'm a Scrapbooker now. MFW I add content to the metadata of images:

Out of curiosity, will this feature become available for videos as well?

EDIT: Now that I think of it, I think this could hypothetically be used as a way to alert administrators to image-related content that violates the rules of this site. Should a "deleteme" tag be instated for this purpose, or would it simply be abused?

Scrapbookers

So I checked my email and saw this message.

"Way to go on uploading your 100th image to Know Your Meme! You can now add or edit the metadata of any image (titles, tags and credit notes) on the site as a Know Your Meme Scrapbooker. To access the edit mode, go to any image page and click the "edit image" button displayed at the top.

So Scrapbookers are pretty much mini image mods.

From what I see some titles will over ride the Scrapbooker title, Like conversationalist (Using Natsuru as an example) he also has scrapbooking powers.

This definitely clears things up. I went to the front page and saw the "Admin Area" button and thought I had been made a full mod. lol.

Just for reference, can you guys tell how many scrapbookers we have now? I've only seen about with the tag so far.

@The Stare Master:

If it's anyone who's uploaded at least 100 pictures, I'm guessing there are hundreds of them, although most of them will have a different automated title since they'll also be Conversationalists and whatnot.

Edit to add: Hmm, the admin area seems to be suggesting there are a little over 500 of them. I didn't think they would show that way.

I don't know where else to ask this, but whatever, seems relevant enough to this topic

I just got a thing that says Admin Area on the home screen

Is this with everyone? Or do I have some sort of… special power…

Last edited Nov 04, 2013 at 03:56AM EST

Soooo…. I got the ability to add tags to whatever I want now. And I am noticing people getting shiny new Scrapbooker titles.

Wondering, will this become it's own chain of titles?

Also, around how many tags will I have to add in before "Scrapbooker" overrides my "Conversationalist" title? Or is that even counted?

Spirit Coyote wrote:

The admin area is only an "admin" area if you actually are one. The area shows tabs related to which powers you have. So the admin area of a Scrapbooker like yourself should only show a tab for images, allowing for quick tagging and checkin the NSFW (ya perv), while still not giving the ability to hide images.

Someone with more powers, like myself, will have more tabs in the admin area based on the powers he has.

Natsuru wrote:

It's a fixed number, placed in the same group as other media titles. Once you passed it you get the title, and once you pass something higher you get that title instead. It doesn't keep calculating.

Besides, I have no idea how we would count tagging fairly.

So, RandomMan stopped by this thread, and I didn't get my questions answered. :C

So, here they are again: should there be privileges like these for the Video Galleries, and should there be a "deleteme" tag that users could implement for content (that has gone unnoticed) that violates the standard of the site?

Videos have some form of auto-tagging, in which titles and sources are automatically added when it's from Youtube, so it doesn't require it as much. I can see it being normal to give it to videos too, but images are a bigger issue on tagging. Still, something to consider.

As for the "deleteme" tag, could be useful. There was also a suggestion for a Report button on media, something which might work better.

There isn't an issue with it being abused (as your previous question added), as long as we keep a form of suggesting it for deletion limited to either users or scrapbookers. Whether it'll be implanted or not, that's up for the staff and might require some more discussion first.

Last edited Nov 05, 2013 at 09:00AM EST

This might not be the right thread for me to mention this but I keep coming across several images where I remember clearly of me giving them tags. But when I see them again I notice that the tags are gone. So I have to ask, is there a possibility that this is a glitch or are we dealing with a rogue scrapbooker. I should probably mention the possibility of the OPs getting rid of the tags themselves for some odd reason.

So, where does 'Tumblrologist' fit in all this?

It's a custom title. It means the staff noticed that you are an expert in all things Tumblr, so you are now apparently a "Tumblrologist".

I just got the Scrapbooker title so I can start helping with the galleries. I am however an editor on 3 different Entries. Wouldn't a form of Researcher be higher than a Scrapbooker? Anyone can add images/videos, but to edit entries takes a higher power.

A Report button would be perfect.

But to create entries doesn't take a higher power, and is also something anyone can do.

I don't know if someone already asked this but if I got the Commentator title that means I can't get the Jr.Researcher or any other editor related title just the Conversionalist title?

Yeah, you only get one title.

Aside: Have we got any new mods other than Molly since the list above was updated?

Thanks, I've updated the list.

Sr. Researcher: ____________

I just got it, so it's either 50 editorships or 500 edits. I got 50 editorships 2 or 3 days ago, but 500 edits last night. Either that or they just rewrote the code so it overtakes conversationalist and I've had the title for some time. Either way, I'm happy. :3

Last edited Apr 13, 2014 at 07:57PM EDT

↑↑↑ Alright, I think it's actually done by the edits, because I had the Conversationalist title I believe, but that changed to Sr. Researcher @ 500 edits. If it were by editorships, then Fridge Logic should hold the same title as well because he has 57 editorships where as I have 51; however, I have over 500 edits and he has 292.

This probably implies that the other researcher based rankings are done by edits as well.
