Paper Mario Sticker Star is a worse game than Hotel Mario.

On one hand Paper Mario Sticker Star has a great soundtrack and looks better. But you know what also had a great soundtrack yet was still a bad game? Sonic 06

On the other hand, Hotel Mario helped bring us many treasures like Youtube Poop and other memes while Paper Mario Sticker Star has combat made pointless by lack of EXP, took away what people thought of when it came to Paper Mario like partners and an actual story, isn't really fun at all, especially if you try complete the game 100%, is representative of the bland era of Mario games from the 3DS and Wii U era, and started a direction for the spinoff series it was apart of that many longtime fans find inferior like the aforementioned pointless combat.

I can agree Sticker Star is the worst Paper Mario, but in my case my "unpopular opinion" is that, despite still using much of Sticker Star's battle system and world traversal, Color Splash is great and gets too much undeserved hate. The story was much better and I feel like it fixed most of the issues Sticker Star had. Origami King is no doubt the best Paper Mario of the Tanabe era, but I feel Color Splash deserves a Switch port.

you know in assasin creed as terrible and oppresive as the templars are I do wonder if they dont have a point when the other side, the assasins, while overall less evil are so willing to go around murdering random guards police men and causing massive chaos over every disagreement they have.

Like I can partially understand why the templars are so obsessed with order, a secret global conspiracy of super human assasins are out there murdering police officers and guards in mass! (I am being facetious of course, its not that simple at all, but still)

Then again the Templars main goal is to turn everyone into a brainwashed zombies which is awful so the assasins are still very much the good guys…but still like I believe you could absolutely have at least one (only one but still) assasin creed game where the templars are the relative good guys and the assasins are the bad guys cause yeah it seems less good vs evil and more order (templars) vs chaos (assasins).

I know that is partially the intention and the games have comment on this but I can often sympathise with the Templars more than I am supposed to, at least the ones who are just trying to mantain some order or dont know anything about said organization goals.

I adore Spec Ops, but I do agree with criticisms that you shouldn't be made to feel bad for something the game forces you to do.

Ideologies are overrated. They’re loaded with numerous assumptions as well as language which can become very ambiguous and subjective. Moreover, they provoke images of some kind of utopia: a supposed future.
However, they’re still “ideas”, hence the name “ideology”. They can be applicable in real life, and have already caused people to do good, but the ideas should be shaped by experience as well.

Especially when it comes to the internet, the key is to avoid arguing to "win". There's practically nothing to be lost or gained. In fact, the biggest casualty is time.

Figure out if the others are arguing for this faulty purpose. If you find you have certain, non-superficial, and relevant views in common with them, appeal to that. If you find the opponent is deliberately avoiding "defeat", or show other signs of trolling, it's better to stop responding, lest you stoop to their level.

Arguing is not a zero-sum game. It's possible for both sides to come out wiser, or even dumber. Only if everyone comes out wiser is arguing preferable.

An actress kissing someone else for their job still counts as cheating in my book. They don't get a free pass just because it's for a movie or tv show.

Obviously it's not cheating if two people agree to it, but I wouldn't want to date an actor for this reason.

People who unironically say "you wouldn't have survived a CoD lobby" are just edgelords pining for their teen years when they could more easily get away with slinging slurs at people when playing games online. It's EXACTLY because of toxic shits why I never like using voice chat in games, even in stuff like Team Fortress 2, and is also why I legit don't understand the appeal behind streamers like Tyler1 and IShowSpeed.

I've seen this as well as the MMO equivalent of this . "Back in my day people wouldn't get silenced for such minor behaviour!"

Well no, they wouldn't get silenced. Game masters would flat out ban you for being an asshole if you didn't know how to behave. Or you would start to get ostracized by the community. Merely being silenced is a light-ass punishment and people who complain about it are much softer than the average person was back then.

Greed and laziness aren't the reason communism fails, stupidity and the gullibility that makes people fall for the tricks of dishonest actors are. Furthermore, the few times actual communism took hold (e.g. the Paris Commune and Catalan Syndicate) usually didn't last long due to some outside force, with the Zapatistas holding the longest. Such a system only works in small communities that are typically isolated from the world.

The labels of "Left" and "Right" are quite meaningless because of how vague they are. Political systems ought to be defined by how they function, as opposed to their ideals and symbolism.

(Before anyone says anything, I admit to being quite inattentive and gullible myself.)

The problems that communist systems (nominal or ideal) have is the assumption of universality: a party of like-minded people imposes their values on those who don’t share their values closely enough. Communism in general is quite vulnerable to this, because visions of an end goal are invoked.

Taking inspíration from another post I saw here

"Normie" is a dumb term, it feels like we went full circle and started doing again the whole "They laugh at me because I'm different; I laugh at them because they're all the same" thing unironically

Can you niggas shut the fuck up about Twitter for 5 minutes! I haven’t witnessed a site so hyper-fixated in hate-watching Twitter other than 4chan. Like I get it, I dislike that site as much as the next guy and it's an easy way to rankup karma points, but since Twitter will be the staple of social media for everything, it’s going to pretty much become a large aspect of online interaction, whether we like it or not. I previously posted here about my distaste of social media websites. But I also know that many people still use sites like Twitter because, again, it’s convenient for interacting with others.

For me, I do use Twitter for various reasons. But I also go out of my way to avoid as much baggage as possible. Such as, avoid having an account, using an alternative instance called Nitter, and have a dedicated excel document linking anyone’s twitter account and their other accounts (since there's a lot of artists, animators, indie game makers, musicians, other developers I’ve encountered from there) .I even use this extension to outright block the site temporarily at times so I could just focus on better things to do.

And I suggest you do the same.

Honestly with all the b.s. that happens on Twitter and such, it probably deserves its own forum thread

WoW players embody everything wrong with the MMO community.

The idea of them disseminating/having disseminated across other MMOs and shitting up their communities too is unpalatable. WoW was supposed to be the containment chamber.

In general, WoW has done more harm than good for the MMO community

gab is even worse than twitter lol and yet people here think the latter is still worst.

on the other hand (unpopular opinion time)…

anyone who supports boycotting a certain country and its product is nothing more than a stupid NPC sheep. fuck you, nobody cares about your stupid ass virtue signaling, you special snowflake.

r/justneckbeard things is kind of cringey. Half the time I go to it, there's always random creepshots of some fat guy without context. I thought it'd be more about calling out toxic behavior online, but it just feels more like r/cringetopia but with a weird layer of self-righteousness.

The "Freedom Convoy" helps prove your point. As much as I dislike Winston Churchill, he had a point when he said that the best argument against democracy is a conversation with the average person. Nevertheless, I still favor involving the common people more in the legislative process, for I'm not fond of élitism.

(Sorry for the late response.)

Musk is the kind of undeserving asshole that proves the neoliberal order is broken beyond repair and any increase in influence he has is a determent to mankind. The end game of his vision is an entire planet indentured to the descendants of his business pals.

Yeah, Ukraine would be a mess if he was still there for starters. And the guy could've easily been a Putin-esque eternal president that gleefully rolls civil rights back to satiate his bigoted base. Fuck him and his racist zombies followers.

My turn…

The Freedom convoys have no principles, because the mandates are being rolled back. They're far-right recruitment ploys and nothing more.

"Homophobic Dog" is a shit tier meme and I just feel sad whenever I see an image relating to it trend. Plus I'll just be "that guy" and say it's annoying you've got people on this site who get easily offended at memes where the joke is "lol white and/or straight people, am i rite?" but yet a meme trends where the whole joke is "literal bigotry towards a minority group" and suddenly they're saying "lol it's just a joke gaiz, calm down snowflakes" like it's the new version of "it's just a prank."

This meme is stupid. It's just a version of "thing I don't like"

Yes karen, people like to make sexual references.

Guess what? A meme only has to spread to be a meme. And frankly, going "well it's just porn" ignores why these trend in the first place. Some are funny, but others are simply unexpected, unique, out of place or are otherwise noteworthy. You know, just like every other meme out there.

The Left-Right paradigm for categorizing political ideologies is just fundamentally flawed and outdated. The whole metaphor comes the French parliament from hundreds of years ago where the nobles and church leaders sat to the right while commoners sat to the left. Obviously politics has changed quite a bit since then, with where different groups fall on the spectrum being subjective. The fact that Horseshoe Theory is so popular just proves that the whole classification system doesn't work very well. Governments and ideologies should be categorized in concrete terms.

Yeah left and right are too ambiguous. And liberal / conservative means different things in different countries.

Categorizing ideologies is tricky, because there are multiple ways to do so and some ideologies straight up don’t fit into many categories.
There’s also the effect of boiling down a worldview into simplistic terms, eroding it into something it’s not.

And governments, organizations, or whoever else is trying to make it real will inevitably come across obstacles that they have to adapt to. Adhering to something too strongly makes this harder, and compromising can distort the original ideology, for better or for worse.
That’s not saying there shouldn’t be standards, as loose standards can make a government look aimless, incompetent, and dangerous.

Are humans naturally predisposed to forming hierarchies? Yes. Do people want to be free from control? It depends, one may prefer the system when it makes life easier and more comfortable.

One thing I don't like around here is the particular mix of conservative moralizing with degenerate meme culture, especially when the latter is used for the former. A site which does whatever it wants, and lives a philosophy of individual choice? Fine, and a heavily regimented party which preaches self-control? Fine.

The multiple entries on the current sex culture war is a good example, there's good opposing comments, but … not all. I don't think anyone would be happy if moral guardians went around applying everyone with the same judgement. I don't think they'd approve of all the men around here either.

Left and right are broken, but a mish mash can also lead to incoherent or just hypocritical idealogies.

This is probably a very popular opinion, but BDSM fans can often be élitist to vanilla and softcore fans. The BDSM community likes to think it's so countercultural and oppressed when it's rather mainstream (or at least accepted), with its connection to Pride parades giving it special status. Part of my annoyance with the BDSM community is likely due to bitterness about maiesiophiles like myself being seen as creeps (which does have a bit of truth to it), but it is a problem with hardcore genre fans.
Perhaps an actually unpopular opinion is that I have no interest in anal. It annoys me when porn treats the anus like a vagina when it lacks the natural lubrication and elasticity and requires a bunch of preparation in reality (and buttsex still does minor damage that needs recovery time). Not wanting to engage in anal intercourse makes one seem like a bigot to a number of activists, which is pretty obnoxious.

I bet none will agree with this but eh

Skyrim has pretty decent characters, the gameplay needs a lot of work (it's a lot better when modded though) but the characters and the interesting towns you can explore imo are a huge highlight imo. I like that each character sort of has a story, I find said stories pretty decent, not every single one ofc but there are a lot of characters to see.

The main story ain't great but a lot of the sidequests stories imo are.

As much as I love Metal Gear Rising and agree the villains are extremely memorable, it really bothers me that some people unironically agree with Armstrong. The dude was in favor of an anarchist society where only the "strong" survive, and the dude has an unfair advantage over average people because he's had nanomachine augmentations that make him near invincible. If you're someone who unironically agrees with Armstrong then it's probably because you think you'll be someone who's at the top of the food chain, nevermind Armstrong and his nanomachine augmented cronies would likely deem your un-augmented ass as a weakling and would not hesitate to kill you for his own personal gain.

Most vtubers who "yuri-bait" are not actually into women. Most of the time, it's an act, an exaggeration of their feelings, an omission of pertinent fact or otherwise fake.

Maybe this sounds obvious to some, but it sure as hell isn't when you step into any given vtuber community… especially hololive.

As someone who leans left enough that I voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2020 primaries and voted Green in the general because Biden was to right wing for me, I despise political correctness. I hate that illegal immigrant is offensive and that I'm supposed to say undocumented immigrant. And I'm not supposed to say joke words like retard. I almost feel there twitter users digging through every adjective until they find one they can is as bad as the n-word.

People who complain about ads in youtube mobile should use the app NewPipe to watch youtube without ads.

If they complain that "it's too much work" installing an app outside of the Market store and they rather use the official youtube app then they don't have a right to criticize youtube.

Speaking as someone who was called retarded for my autism as a child, I can say that the intent matters more than the words themselves. Linguist Steven Pinker noted that the euphemisms used to replace less-favorable labels often become insults in themselves with his euphemism treadmill concept. The highly-competitive culture of capitalism leads many to cut down their opponents and root out those seen as weak, which includes using diagnoses as a means to diminish others. There is also the Oppression Olympics brought about by hyperindividualism and a desire to feel special.

I commute via bicycle and have a nonstandard diet in a very Republican suburb in the US. I have had people glare at me for my supermarket purchases and heckle me from their cars during my commute. I usually cannot understand what those hecklers say because of the Doppler effect distorting their voices, but they have called me things like "faggot" (I remember an older woman screeching at me like a banshee, which was perplexing). Having a thick skin is necessary, especially since the insults are nothing compared to people in their monster trucks trying to pressure me off the road.

Few opinions I got related to gaming:

I for one find people screeching about games being political or not political to of gone past the natural shelf-life or at least Twitter manages to show how insufferable they are when it pops up again. Like I know one could mean they don't like soapboxing and something that screws up in handling a theme or how MGS 2 has deep themes and all that deal with war and Bioshock shows the failure of an Ayn Rand society but seeing it pop up just makes me feel people should just play the game rather than screech at some "cuck" or "chud."

Much as I unironically call myself a gamer because of gaming being one of my biggest hobbies, I fail to see hype from all sorts of games you'd see being propped up lately by Sony or Microsoft or any game developer beyond a select few like Bethesda. Like yeah TLOU 2 and God of War 2018 looks nice with their graphics or Halo is coming by and is likely cruising on its name and rep to build hype and all but I fail to get hyped by these games or by any other AAA or first party game. I'm more interested in indie games like Lunacid or at least third party games like Postal 4. Hell, even as someone that owns the PC version of God of War 2018, I fail to be awed by the graphics and the cutscenes make me just want to skip to the action which did have its share of fun.

And speaking of gamer, I'm just seeing myself sticking more with older games than any of the newer ones. Granted, work could keep me busy for a huge chunk of my day but even then, I'm more likely to just be playing games released almost ten years ago than any of the latest releases. I find myself coming back to Sims 4 than a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Death Stranding.

I despise how hollywood-esque a lot of game trailers are. Forced dramatic pauses, extraneous buildup of a moment or quote and uninspired "epic" music.

I'm looking at Halo Reach right now since MCC is on sale and I'm considering buying it for PC (and infinite is shit). The video I'm watching sort of feels like a 10 year old's idea of a cool trailer.

If anything, the politics of mainstream games have gotten more cowardly and shallow. I mean look at how crazy the early AC games were building up to a "take down the powers" ending before they effing ran away from their own thematics. Squeenix in particular used to have stuff going on in their games, but have somehow managed to completely drop the ball of saying anything with Hitman and Deus Ex. Hell their bread and butter went from being… eco-terrorist friendly in 7 to an utter fucking void in 15.

It's generally the monetization schemes ruining games. Shooty games are in battle pass nightmare-hell and if you don't like battle royals, fuck you. Online modes rake in money so fuck expansions. Remakes having cash shops inserted post-launch. And hey, certain games don't actually have complete endings 'cause DLC has to sell. And then there's the corp-mandated live services.

Not sure how unpopular this opinion is any more, but I haven't really seen anyone actually express it, so…

Shitty official translations/localizations are significantly worse than shitty fanlations, and I'd say they're also worse than having no localization whatsoever. If it can't be done right by people who are being paid to do it, better wait for fans to figure it out instead: they actually care about the quality of the end product. This wouldn't be an issue if localization companies hired more competent employees, however.
