What's a movie or show you used to like but has aged badly?

Revenge of the Nerds

An 80s sex comedy that was considered great for its time, but nowadays holy shit has it aged badly, and I say this as someone who enjoyed it when I first saw in during my own teens around 2003-04. Not only are the stereotypical depictions of nerds pretty outdated for the most part, but the fact this movie treats things like illegal spying and distribution of nonconsensual nudes and LITERAL RAPE as "heroic" acts by the titular nerds has really made this movie a good example of "the only way this movie would have been made today is if it was a psychological thriller/horror like American Psycho" because the "heroes" are not very heroic (also when you think about it the jocks the nerds are having problems with barely get the brunt of the "revenge," it's mainly taken out on the jock's girlfriends). I'm also hardly the first to point this out, both Robot Chicken and College Humor did skits showing how fucked up some of the nerds actions really are (in Robot Chicken's parody the nerds get sent to prison for the very things I mentioned).

The Mortal Kombat movies, particularly the Cyrax fight in Annihilation. At the time, my child self thought this was the coolest shit ever. Upon rewatching the movies many years later, they do not hold up well at all to say the lest. I can't even enjoy them in an ironic way. The movies are indeed terrible, especially Annihilation.

This may sound really controversial, but I still love Revenge of the Nerds and I still enjoy it.

Anyways movies I think that doesn't hold up well is The Dark Knight trilogy. The Tim Burton Batman movies still hold up way better than The Dark Knight movies.

Robot Chicken did well in how they parodied that movie over what the nerds did. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if other 80s sex comedies aged worse than milk whether it was on things like with how certain characters were written or how certain comedic elements played out. Same could be said for films from the 90's. I imagine Ace Ventura would have aged badly with its villain since the problem isn't a transwoman being a villain so much as the villain being played out as an obsessive and deranged psycho whose reason for transitioning was just to steal the identity of a missing hiker and take revenge on a former team-mate. That and could count playing out the whole "I kissed a dude!? GROSS!" bit though I'll admit, I'd still find the version with Ace funny simply because of how Jim Carrey played his character out to the point said character would burn his clothes and run into the shower naked. There's something I find funny about that and sticking a plunger on his face. Can't say the same for the entire of the police department save for maybe the one good cop in his reaction.

If you're talking 80s sex comedies aging like milk, look no further than the king himself, animal house. There's so many scenes that just wouldn't fly today.

The one guy debating statutory rape with his shoulder angel and devil? That's an Oof moment. The same devil calling him gay for not doing it? Yikes. The scene where Joe belushi spies on a woman doing herself? Funny, but big Ruh roh. The entire black bar scene? OHHHHH NOOOO.

Don't get me wrong, it's still one of the funniest movies ever made to this day. But uhhh… let's just say I have a severe lack of people to watch it with.

As for personal tastes, I think my personal pick goes to toy story and toy story 2. And that's specifically for the early cgi that severely needs an update or a remaster of some kind. For the record, i think Monsters Inc and bugs life hold up fine. I just want an updated toy story.

Honestly Toy Story 2 is way better than the first Toy Story.
