About

Blinding Stew refers to a meme that was popularized in early 2024 after X / Twitter user @truewagner posted a photo of a flyer asking for parenting advice in which all the responses jokingly recommended that the child be fed "stew that blinds her for a day." More memes about "1 Day Blinding Stew" or "blinding soup" spread soon after. The concept of a stew causing a temporary blinding effect may be a reference to "Suspicious Stew," an item in the video game Minecraft.

All the handwritten responses to the poster recommend that the father feed his daughter "stew that blinds her for a day." The pot is never or rarely emptied all the way, and ingredients and liquid are replenished as necessary. [2] It is differentiated from a perpetual stew by the fact that eating it causes the eater to become blind for a day. Such foods can continue cooking for decades or longer if properly maintained.
