Disney Princess Mortal Kombat tournament discourse.

Batman vs. Superman. Alien vs. Predator — long have debates raged over who would win in a hypothetical battle of physical combat between some of fiction's most prominent heroes and monsters.

Finally, an internet user was brave enough to pose the real question: "Who among the Disney Princess roster would win a Mortal Kombat tournament?"

That internet user was Twitter / X poster @alexjaymo, who sparked intense debate and memes over their hypothetical.

It seems most responders interpreted the question to mean who would win if each of the princesses was pit against each other in a tournament of physical combat, rather than who would win if all the princesses were literally playing Mortal Kombat.

Under these guidelines, many suggested Mulan was the clear favorite, as she is a trained warrior and has canonically murdered a small army of Huns.

However, others posited that there are other things to consider beyond the bloodlust displayed by Disney Princesses in their films. Some of the princesses have extraordinary powers and demonstrated combat skills.

For example, Elsa famously can command ice, making her an obvious parallel to Sub-Zero, while Merida is extremely skilled with a bow, which could make her an effective zoner. Snow White may not demonstrate combat skills but she has demonstrated that she can call nature to her side through her singing voice, which could make her an effective puppeteer-archetype fighter.

Then there's the question of who would win if the characters were literally ported into a video game that would assumedly have some balance between the fighters. This would undeniably nerf Elsa so that she isn't OP over some of the Princesses that have never demonstrated an affinity for combat, like Cinderella and Aurora, while Princesses like Jasmine and Tiana would require creative interpretations for their potential move sets.

Clearly, there are many factors to consider when debating who would win in a hypothetical Disney Princess fighting game, though it seems agreed upon that no matter the makeup, Mulan will either win or be considered top tier.

The (again, hypothetical) developers would need to find creative ways to buff some of Disney's less combat-focused princesses lest the game be unfairly balanced.

However, if the response to the hypothetical is anything to go by, there's clearly a market for a Disney Princess fighter, though it's almost certain that Disney will never make one.
