Walt Screaming in a Car, also known as Hank Get The Sweet And Sour Sauce, refers to a 4chan post parodying a scene in Breaking Bad where Walter White yells from a car window at Hank to get sweet and sour sauce, not barbeque. The original scene sees Walt yelling at Hank to warn him about men coming to kill him. The post was made to 4chan in February 2021, spreading over the course of the year and becoming associated with edits featuring Madness Combat and Friday Night Funkin' characters Tricky and Hank, also spawning a meme format in which Walt tries to warn Hank of various things.

Origin

On February 1st, 2021, an anonymous user of 4chan's^[1] /tv/ board posted a screenshot from season 5, episode 13 of Breaking Bad showing Walter White screaming at Hank Schrader from a locked car, trying to warn him that people are about to come and kill him. The user provided parody dialogue for the scene imagining White yelling about sweet and sour sauce, writing, "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK GET THE SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE HAAAAAAAAAAAANK THE SWEET AND SOUR NOT BARBEQUE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK" (shown below).

The image was reposted across social media sites^[2][3] a number of times, inspiring further memes about it. For example, on February 3rd, iFunny^[4] user 4Runner posted an image macro referencing the post, garnering over 300 smiles in four days (shown below).

Tricky The Clown Edits

On May 25th, 2021, Twitter^[5] user @AetherDX posted a video consisting of an edited version of the Breaking Bad screenshot replacing Walt with Madness Combat and Friday Night Funkin' character Tricky the Clown, the antagonist of a character named Hank in the Madness series, along with a voiceover shouting the post text (shown below). The video gained over 13,000 views and 1,700 likes in two weeks. The video was reuploaded to YouTube^[6] on May 27th, garnering over 30,000 views in a comparable span of time (shown below). The voiceover is performed by Twitter^[7] user @Kira_supernova.

The edit inspired a number of other videos and memes imagining Tricky yelling at Hank from the car. For example, on May 31st, YouTuber^[8] ChimeraArtist posted an animation of the scene set to an unknown recording of the text from the original post, garnering over 618,000 views in just over a week (shown below, left). On June 3rd, YouTuber^[9] Jace Studio posted another animation imagining the scene, garnering over 440,000 views in a week (shown below, right).

On June 5th, Newgrounds^[10] user and YouTuber^[11] Daniel Santos posted a 3D animation set to the original edit's audio, garnering over 1,400 views and 40 saves on Newgrounds in five days (shown below).

Memes and fan art referencing the edits also became popular on Reddit over the course of June, specifically on /r/MadnessCombat^[12] and /r/FridayNightFunkin.^[13] For example, on June 7th, Redditor u/kykbln posted a piece of fan art to both subreddits referencing the edits depicting Tricky crying after getting barbeque sauce, garnering over 1,100 upvotes on the former and 2,900 on the latter in three days (shown below, left). On June 10th, Redditor u/Pestgrem posted a piece of fan art to /r/MadnessCombat^[14] depicting the scene, garnering over 400 upvotes in five hours (shown below, right).
